Author Visits

I love books! I love reading them, I love writing them, and I love sharing them with kids and adults. I am trained in Indian Classical Dance and have been performing since I was a child. My school visits offer lots of surprises and keep students engaged as they learn.

I am available for virtual and in-person visits and offer four different types of programs. All programs are adjusted according to the grade level of the children. PICTURE BOOK READING & Q+A SESSION I do an interactive read aloud of one of my picture books and answers questions from the audience.

LET’S STAND TALL I talk about the inspiration for my picture book Birds of a Feather and highlights the emotional journey of the main character. Through interactive reading and conversations about self-acceptance, inclusion, and friendship, I inspire the children to share their own feelings, be proud of who they are, and know that we all belong. Attending my presentation will help students empathize and reflect on the importance of embracing diversity and building an inclusive community.

LET’S LEARN FEELINGS I talk about growing up in India, the country’s love for mangoes, and the inspiration for my picture book Mango Memories. Through interactive reading and conversations about feeling left out, I guide the children to live the emotional journey of a character who experiences personal growth. Attending my presentation will help students tap into that universal fear that everyone faces at some point—the fear of not belonging or being excluded.

UNWRAPPING THE GIFT OF TRADITIONS I talk about growing up in India, the country’s love for mangoes, and the inspiration for my picture book Mango Memories. Through interactive reading and conversations about family traditions, I inspire the children to make connections to personal experiences and the experiences of others. Attending my presentation will provide students with an opportunity to appreciate cultural diversity, explore the richness of traditions, and gain a deeper understanding of their own heritage as well as others’.
